Dr. Michelle O’Brien

Dr. Michelle O’Brien is a Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologist of Ontario. She completed her graduate studies in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Neuropsychology at York University (2006). Dr. O’Brien completed a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship in Clinical Neuropsychology at SCO Ottawa. She specializes in working with clients who have sustained an acquired or traumatic brain injury and neuropsychological assessment of adults and older adults presenting with complex psychological and neurological disorders. She also works clinically within Lakeridge Health across both inpatient and outpatient programs. In this role she consults to various medial and rehab programs, conducting assessments for diagnostic clarification and neuropsychological evaluations for individuals with diverse presentations, including acquired brain injuries, stroke, neurodevelopmental issues, and dementia.

Dr. O’Brien’s general approach to clinical care is aligned with a biopsychosocial model. She formulates an understanding of her clients by striving to understand the multitude of biological, psychological, social, and developmental factors that affect a client’s functioning. She approaches case conceptualization in a collaborative and individualized manner, and tailors her services to the client’s unique circumstances.

Dr. Iulia Banica-Malcolm

Dr. Iulia Banica Malcolm is a registered Clinical Psychologist who works with adult clients experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and postpartum depression/anxiety, as well as difficulties with complex trauma, stress, perfectionism, relationships, and emotion regulation. She has extensive training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She also provides disorder-specific treatments such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD.

Dr. Banica Malcolm obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at McGill University after completing her psychology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has provided assessment and psychotherapy in both private and public health settings in Ontario, Quebec, and Pennsylvania. She also enjoys providing clinical consultation and training.

Dr. Banica Malcolm’s approach strives to be warm, compassionate, and collaborative. She first works with clients to understand their difficulties, backgrounds, and strengths, and set goals for therapy. She then provides integrative, evidence-based treatment tailored to her clients’ unique needs. She uses a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive lens throughout her work.

Koren Hobbs

Koren Hobbs is a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Koren graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science from Queens University followed by her Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition from Ryerson University. She completed her Graduate Dietetic Internship Program from The Moncton Hospital in New Brunswick.

Since 2014, Koren has been working in Ontario as a dietitian providing Outpatient Eating Disorder treatment for Adults and Paediatric clients and their families. Koren is experienced working with eating disorders, disordered eating and general healthy eating. She has received ongoing training in Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT), Family Based Therapy (FBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). Koren is passionate about helping individuals develop a healthy relationship with food, through a weight neutral, anti-diet approach.

Anja Dobri

Anja (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto and her Master in Social Work from New York University (NYU). 

Anja has over 15 years of experience working with teenagers and adults in various settings including community-based mental health organizations, the youth justice system, an arts organization, and private practice. She has experience treating anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, interpersonal and family conflict, and other issues. She utilizes multiple evidence-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness approaches. 

Anja works in a collaborative fashion, building on people’s strengths to help them reach their goals. Her non-judgemental approach is filled with empathy, compassion, and humour.

Andrea Layne

Andrea is a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Andrea completed her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University (currently Toronto Metropolitan University) followed by a Master of Social Work degree from York University. She received CBT certification from the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT).

Andrea has over 20 years of experience working in various settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital programs, community-based organizations, and private practice. Areas of expertise include supporting adults with depression, anxiety disorders, life stressors, and PTSD/trauma. Andrea has training and experience providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She also offers supportive psychotherapy for individuals seeking emotional support, coping skills development, and assistance building confidence and self-esteem.

Andrea aims to identify and highlight the unique strengths and resilience of her clients, with the goal of helping individuals navigate difficulties and live a fulfilling life. Her gentle approach to care fosters self-determination, hope, and optimal mental wellness.

Richin Joy

Richin Joy is a Social Worker and Psychotherapist registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSSSW). He completed both his Bachelors and Master of Social Work at York University.
Richin‘s practice focuses on providing services to individuals ages 14 and up struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, interpersonal difficulties, lack of motivation/drive, addictions, family/intimate relationship challenges, and workplace challenges.  He has experience working in hospital settings, both in inpatient adult psychiatry and outpatient mental health.  He has experience with group therapy as well as working with individuals, families and couples in private practice settings.
Richin practices using a range of modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy.
Richin truly believes that our challenges become our greatest strengths. He values being able to connect with his clients and make them feel at ease from the moment he starts working with them.  His goal is to help clients visualize the life that they want to live, explore past and present challenges impeding this, and provide the necessary tools and guidance to overcome these challenges and live one’s best life.

Koren Hobbs

Koren completed her Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and provides psychotherapy services as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) under the supervision of Dr. Carolyn James and Dr. Kelty Berardi.  In addition to training in CBT, FBT, and DBT, Koren has received additional specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Koren is a dedicated and compassionate therapist who ensures a well-rounded and adaptable therapeutic experience. She is committed to a collaborative and holistic therapeutic model that integrates physical, psychological, and emotional health.

Koren’s therapeutic practice focuses on helping adults and teens navigate life challenges and transitions, manage depression and anxiety, process grief, and address relationship distress. Through her empathetic and integrative approach, Koren strives to empower clients to achieve greater emotional well-being and personal growth. Koren is available to provide therapy to both individuals and couples, offering tailored support to meet your unique needs.

Susan Russell

Susan is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She holds an undergraduate degree in Social Development Studies at the University of Waterloo (1992), a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto (1995) and a Postgraduate Fellowship Certificate in Family Systems at C.M. Hincks Institute, currently known as SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health (1996). Susan is a Certified Play Therapist with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy, a Foundational Level I Theraplay Practitioner and an EMDRIA Approved EMDR Trained clinician (EMDR Certification in progress). Susan is also a co-developer of a children’s anxiety program (2005) which incorporates components of yoga, CBT and expressive arts.

Susan has over 25 years’ experience in a hospital outpatient clinic assessing and treating children and adolescents struggling with symptoms of depressed mood, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, suicide ideation, self-harm, trauma, grief and loss, separation and divorce, selective mutism, OCD, ADHD and ODD. She uses an eclectic evidence-based approach to therapy blending CBT, DBT, family, play, sand and attachment-based therapies, expressive arts and mindfulness techniques to help clients achieve their goals.

Susan strongly believes that early intervention in a child’s life is essential to their growth and development. Through the therapeutic relationship, and with parents’ support and involvement, children and adolescents can learn to regulate their emotions, increase their self-esteem and confidence and develop a sense of mastery to navigate life’s many challenges. Susan strives to create a safe and nurturing environment for all her clients by meeting them at their level to understand, validate and support them in an empathetic, non-judgmental and playful way.

Tyler Tompsett

Tyler is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Tyler completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) at Ontario Tech University, followed by a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at McGill University and a Masters of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Toronto.

Tyler has extensive experience working with children, youth, families, and adults. In addition, Tyler has experience using a wide range of treatment modalities, such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy and Strength Based Therapy.

Tyler’s area of focus includes mental health, depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, grief, relationship issues, disability and 2SLGBTQI+. Tyler has a passion for advancing the importance of inclusive education. Tyler is approachable, caring and dedicated to the wellness of all clients.

Bhavna Verma

Bhavna Verma is a Registered Psychotherapist who works with adult clients (18+) struggling with various concerns including trauma, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, mood related disorders, addictions, life transitions and relationship challenges. She utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach encompassing therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Mindful Self-Compassion and Gestalt Therapy.

She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy and completed her Master of Science in Community Mental Health Counselling at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.

Bhavna believes in a collaborative approach to create a treatment plan that is goal oriented by providing a safe space to navigate the counselling journey.
